Scholarships

 An essay needs to be submitted to be eligible for all CPSF scholarships.


Homestead Bank Scholarship

Homestead Bank in Chadron will provide a scholarship to be awarded to a female and male student in the amount of $750.00 each. The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student attending a technical school, a junior college, a community college or a four-year college or university. Scholastic ability shall be the primary criteria for these awards. The scholarship will be for one academic year and shall be divided equally between each academic semester.


Norbert J. and Karen E. Arnoldy Scholarships

Norbert J. and Karen E. Arnoldy scholarships will provide scholarships to be awarded for a minimum of $750.00 each. These scholarships will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student attending a technical school, a junior college, a community college or a four-year college or university. Financial need shall be the primary criteria for these scholarships and shall be divided equally between each academic semester.


William G. Finney Memorial Scholarships

The William G. Finney Memorial Scholarship will provide scholarships to be awarded for a minimum of $750.00 each. These scholarships will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student attending a junior college or a four-year college or university. Applicants must have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average, be a good citizen and demonstrate some basic financial need. Preference will be given to any student who is seeking a career in engineering. These scholarships will be for one academic year and shall be divided equally between each academic semester.


Ione Marshall Annual Elementary Education Scholarship ($1000.00)

A scholarship is provided for a Chadron High School senior planning to attend Chadron State College and majoring in Education. Selection of the recipient will be based on the ACT composite score, honor level, cumulative GPA and school/community activities. The recipient may petition the CPS Foundation for renewal of the one-year scholarship up to four consecutive years.

Renewal Requirements:

____ Renewal requires a college cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better

____ By April 15: The recipient of the one-year scholarship must submit a written request for renewal to the CPS Foundation.

____ By April 15: The recipient must provide the CPS Foundation with a copy of the previous fall's college transcript.

____ By April 15: Submit written proof from the student's Elementary Education advisor the student continues to be on the path to earning an Elementary Education degree.


Prairie Home Scholarship

Prairie Home Scholarship will be awarded to a Prairie Home alumnus or to someone who attended Prairie Home School District or to a descendant of Prairie Home alumni who are presently attending Chadron High School and reside in the Chadron Public School District. The amount of the scholarship will be determined in the spring not to exceed $750.00.


Zackory Charles Muma Memorial Scholarship

Zachary Charles Muma Memorial Scholarship will provide a $1000.00 scholarship to be awarded to a student who is going to attend Chadron State College. Preference will be given to a student who is going to major in Art or Geoscience.


Class of 1969 Scholarship

There will be one scholarship awarded to a Chadron High School senior. The scholarship will be $769.00. There are no restrictions to this scholarship. The scholarship will be split over both semesters.


Jerry Traphagan Memorial Math Scholarship

Jerry Traphagan Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans on going into education. First preference will be to a student who plans on majoring in Mathematics. Other criteria will be high school GPA, ACT composite score and need. This scholarship is for $750.00. The scholarship will be distributed over both semesters.


Opportunity Scholarship

The Opportunity Scholarship will provide 2 scholarships in the amount of $750.00 each.  This scholarship will be awarded to graduating CHS students, who are planning to continue their education on a full or half time basis.  These opportunities may include community or four year colleges, trade schools, journeyman programs, and school-affiliated internships.  Applicants must identify as a racial minority, be eligible for free or reduced lunch benefits and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.  


Hussey Family Scholarship

The Hussey Family Scholarship will be awarded to a Chadron High School senior planning to attend Chadron State College and enroll in the area of Business or Agriculture.  The scholarship is worth $750. The scholarship will be split over both semesters.  If there are no seniors majoring in Business or Agriculture, the committee will award the scholarship to a student attending Chadron State College.
